My dad gave me a love of math, science and engineering. I landed in technical journalism. My mom gave me a love of music. I landed in piano lessons at the St Louis School of Music by age 7. High school Chorale was way too daunting, so I stuck to solo piano until Stanford when I switched to alto saxophone—answering the call to “Come Join the iconic World’s Largest Rock and Roll (Un)Marching] Band” Football 0 Band ♾️ That did it. Their infamy spawned a love affair with amateur music. Mom at 101 still adores opera but my baby-boomer self at last found Alive & Kickin, also a zany amalgam blending quirk and quality. I eagerly await any chance to harmonize with my new family—and it’s “All Right Now”!

FUN FACT: I joined the Hyland Hills ski patrol during my first few very snowy Minnesota winters.
