Michael was a three time Ivey Award winner. He was also named the 2016, 2015 & 2010 Choreographer of the Year by Lavender Magazine. He was awarded the AARP “50 Over 50: Disruptor Award” in 2017 and the WCCO “Making A Difference Award” for his work with Alive & Kickin in 2010. 

Theater Credits include: Victor Victoria, The Drowsy Chaperone, Hairspray, Guys and Dolls, Singin’ In The Rain, Les Miserables, 42nd Street, On The Town & Oklahoma for Artistry Theatre. Smokey Joes Cafe, The Full Monty, Mamma Mia, La Cage aux Folles, Joseph and The Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, 42nd Street, Mary Poppins, White Christmas & Anything Goes for the Duluth Playhouse. Gypsy, Oliver!, Cabaret, Aida, Company, Spring Awakening, The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, Evita, The Full Monty, Parade, The Rink, & Passage of Dreams for Theatre Latté Da. Sneetches (World Premier), Shrek, Wizard of Oz, Annie, Babe The Sheep Pig, Tommy, Spelling Bee, Disney’s High School Musical, A Year with Frog and Toad & Fashion 47 for The Children’s Theatre Company. Cats, Annie, The Sound of Music, Camelot, Music Man, My Fair Lady, Forever Plaid, Oklahoma, & Can Can for Chanhassen Theatres. 

Additionally, his work has been seen at Stages Theatre Company, Great Theatre, The Ordway Center for the Arts, Park Square Theater, The Ivey Awards, Children’s Theatre Curtain Call Ball, The Minnesota Opera Company, Sesame Street, Pantages Theatre, Hennepin Theatre Trust Spotlight Awards. As an educator Michael worked for Hennepin Theatre Trust, University of Minnesota Twin Cities, University of Minnesota Duluth, Gus Davis Academy, St. Olaf College, Hennepin Theater Trust Spotlight Awards, many local high schools including East View, Minnetonka, and Hill Murray, Eagan Summer Theatre, River Valley Dance Academy, Youth Dance Ensemble, Spooner High School, WI.
